The dominant national currencies in this region are the Australian dollar, the New Zealand dollar and the United States dollar, used by many small countries and dependent territories in Oceania. There is also the CFP franc, which is in circulation in the French overseas territories.

The most-traded among the local currencies is considered the Australian dollar, occupying the fifth place by the turnover in the global forex market, and the New Zealand dollar, which is included in the top 12.
